Welcome to BILD (British Indians Living in Dubai). Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before applying for membership.

1. Eligibility

Membership of BILD is open exclusively to individuals of Indian origin who were born or raised in the UK, and who are of both British and Indian culture now living in the UAE, this includes those of Indian origin who were born, raised, or have previously settled in the United Kingdom.

Additionally, membership is open to individuals married to someone who meets this British Indian heritage criteria listed above.

BILD is specifically centred around this shared cultural identity and lived experience of being British Indian and does not discriminate on the basis of religion or faith. We welcome British Indians from all faiths.

We appreciate the diversity within the broader South Asian community and recognise that there are many wonderful groups in UAE that reflect other backgrounds. Hence, BILD exists solely to provide a secure space for the unique British Indian voice and experience to thrive abroad.

2. Purpose and Ethos

BILD is a membership network dedicated to celebrating and supporting the shared cultural identity, social connections, and professional growth of British Indians living in Dubai. Our activities focus on cultural celebrations, social events, family-friendly gatherings, and promoting British Indian businesses and professionals.

BILD embraces inclusivity regardless of religion or faith, whilst remaining centred on the unique experiences of British Indians living abroad.

3. Membership Conduct

Members are expected to uphold the values of respect, honesty, and kindness in all interactions within the community. Discriminatory, offensive, or harmful behaviour will not be tolerated. Members must also comply with all applicable UAE laws and regulations while participating in all BILD activities and group chats.

4. Application and Approval

All membership applications are subject to review by the BILD team to confirm they meet the eligibility criteria set out in Section 1. BILD reserves the right to decline or revoke membership at any time if it is determined that an individual does not meet these eligibility criteria or has acted in breach of these Terms.

5. Misrepresentation

Membership is granted based on trust and honesty. Any member found to have misrepresented their identity or eligibility may be removed from the community without prior notice.

6. Use of Fees

BILD operates under a Dubai commercial trade licence. Income from membership fees, events and sponsorships is used to fund the operation and delivery of BILD’s services, covering operating costs, licensing, administration, events and member activities.

7. Privacy and Data

Personal information collected during membership applications will be used only for BILD community purposes and will be handled securely in line with applicable data protection laws.

8. Compliance with Laws

Members agree to abide by all relevant UAE laws and regulations while participating in BILD events and activities.

By submitting a membership application or participating in BILD activities, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and BILD community rules.

9. Membership Fee

BILD is a British Indian membership network founded in Dubai in 2019. Its purpose is to bring people together, create a sense of belonging, and support British Indians as they settle, connect and build friendships in Dubai.

BILD charges a one-time membership fee of AED 50 to access its network and services.

This fee covers essential operating costs, licensing costs, administration, events, member engagement, and the creation of spaces and activities that bring members together.

Payment of the membership fee gives members access to the BILD network, which currently includes multiple groups, events, activities, and online platforms. Access may include, where applicable, social groups, lifestyle and interest-based groups, business networking groups, events, cultural celebrations, coffee mornings, meet ups, buy and sell groups, book clubs, walking groups, padel, golf, and other member activities.

BILD aims to provide a kind, supportive and inclusive environment that encourages real connection, shared experiences and lasting friendships. However, membership does not guarantee participation in any specific group, event, activity, benefit or opportunity. Access to certain groups, events or activities may be subject to availability, suitability, capacity, additional costs, separate terms, or approval by BILD administrators.

The AED 50 membership fee is a one-time payment intended to support the ongoing operation and delivery of BILD’s services. Unless otherwise stated by BILD in writing, the membership fee is non-refundable once paid.

BILD reserves the right to amend its membership structure, groups, events, activities, access rules, fee amounts, and member benefits from time to time. Any such changes will be made at BILD’s discretion.

By paying the membership fee and joining BILD, the member acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to these terms.

10. Events

Event tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by BILD.
In the event of cancellation, BILD will offer a refund or credit towards a future event.
BILD reserves the right to refuse entry to any event.
BILD is not responsible for personal injury, loss, or damage arising from attendance at events.

11. Business Directory

The BILD Business Directory and Community Knowledge Base are provided as a service to members. Listings are open to businesses holding a valid UAE trade licence or a valid UK business registration. BILD does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the quality of any business, service, or recommendation listed. Members engage with listed businesses at their own risk. BILD accepts no liability for any loss or dispute arising from transactions between members and listed businesses.

12. Photography & Media

By attending BILD events, you acknowledge that photographs and videos may be taken and used for BILD community purposes, including on this website and social media. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the organiser prior to the event via email on connect@bild.ae.

13. Liability

BILD is a business operating under a Dubai commercial trade licence. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BILD and its operators accept no liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from membership, attendance at events, or use of this website.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai.

15. Changes to These Terms

BILD may update these Terms from time to time. Continued membership following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify members of material changes.
